Both in the reading passage and the lecture, there are 3 aspects, which is for the company, for the society, and for the employee himself. And the opinions are totally the opposite.

First of all, the four-day week is seen as a costly policy in the lecture. Even the salary is cut down to four-fifth, the welfare for employees, such as medical care, is the same. As well as the working condition and environment, like computer, place and so on. These will definitely be a huge cost on the company on the contrary of the passage.

Secondly, the reading passage holds the idea that the four-day week policy will reduce unemployment rates, while the lecture says no. In the condition of last point, a giant cost on this policy, the company will be less willing to hire more employees to do the work, instead, the original employee will be forced to do overtime job. This will make either the company or the employee unhappy, and the unemployment rates will not be reduced at all.

Finally, for some employee who is already in the last era of their career, the four-day week policy will improve the quality of their lives due to more free time. However, more spare time means more time to “waste”, which I mean not to work. And their working ability will not be improved, they are less competitive in the market. Thus, they will be likely to fire when the economic condition is negative, and relatively “impossible” to be promoted.

Both in the reading passage and the lecture, there are 3 aspects, which is for the company, for the society, and for the employee himself. And the opinions are totally the opposite. While the reading passage discusses the disadvantages of promoting four-day workweek, the lecture doubts all the reasons the passages says.

This will make either the company or the employee unhappy, and the unemployment rates will not be reduced at all.

Finally, the lecture disagrees that employees will enjoy a better quality of life because of the reduced workdays. The reading passages suggests that with a three-day weekend, employees will have more personal time to enjoy themselves and spend time with their families. The lecture, however, lists disadvantages such as reduced job stability. If employees choose to have four-day workweek, they might be the first ones to lose their jobs during economic downturn. In addition, they might not be promoted by the companies since they do not work for the company for as much time as the others.

In summary, the reading passage claims that four-day workweek will benefit the companies, the country and the employees. However, the lecture gives strong arguments on how they will not be benefited.

At universities and colleges, there are so many activities including sports, social, educational and so on. From my perspective, as for financial support to these activities, sports ans social activities are just as important as classes and libraries and should receive equal financial support.

First of all, these activity are beneficial and crucial to college students. For example, sports can make your body more beautiful and full of energy. Some group sports like football or volleyball can improve your collaborate ability, which is useful in work. As for social activities, it’s much more useful. A party is the fastest way to help you fit in a new environment, especially in colleges. You basically don’t know the students around you at all, then a party will help you know them better and find more friends.

Secondly, you will be very boring and tired if you only take classes and go to libraries. Imagine that you spend all day learning, what will it be? Getting up at 6:00 am, after taking a shower, you go to libraries and do some reading. And then you take classes all day. As soon as you have time, you will go to the libraries for studying. OMG! That kind to life is totally boring and tired, which will probably make you lack of interest, stressful and low efficiency. So taking some non-educational activities, like go to swimming or party, can make you happy.

Finally, you know they always say, the university is like the little society. And I want to ask a question, will you on earth spend money on sports, like gym or swimming or tennis, and social or not? The answer is definitely yes. And the reason why you will spend money on these activities is that they are beneficial, like what I said in last point, right?

All in all, I believe that sports ans social activities are just as important as classes and libraries and should receive equal financial support.
