Abstract

We propose observations to better define the broad band continuum and variability of the exceptional Seyfert 2 IRAS 18325-5926. GINGA and ASCA observations have shown IRAS 18325-5926 to contain a Seyfert 1-like nucleus that varies rapidly in X-rays. A broad iron K-alpha line with a very large equivalent width has been revealed by ASCA, and it is best fit by relativistically broadened emission from He-like iron. The absence of a typical Compton reflection hump is suggested by the GINGA data. These two spectral signatures are suggestive of an ionized accretion disk in IRAS 18325-5926, and we propose an XTE observation to definitively probe the Compton reflection. We will also further examine the variability of IRAS 18325-5926.
