I searched for this and found Maudite's question about text editors but they were all for Windows.

Sublime text is awesome (www.sublimetext/2). Excellent search features, very fast and lightweight. Very decent code completion.

I also use RubyMine and WebStorm a lot (www.jetbrains/). They are excellent but not all purpose like TextMate.
