Autocreate PO Form Req, Lines Are Not Sorted in a Meaningful Order (Doc ID 280741.1)

SYMPTOMS

 When user autocreates a purchase order from requisitions, the lines in the requisition zone of autocreate form are not sorted in a meaningful order. This appears random and totally meaningless to user.

CAUSE

 Currently the requisition lines displayed in the requisition line zone of the autocreate form are ordered as Item Id, Category Id, Need-by Date and Requisition Line Id. So any requisition lines searched from the find requisition from will be sorted based on Item Id, Category Id, Need-by Date and Requisition Line Id.

This appears random to the user because Item Id (mtl_system_items.inventory_item_id) is populated with a sequence, which is totally meaningless to user.

FIX

Enhancement Request 381520 has been logged for this issue and has been Approved for User Group Voting.

As per this enhancement request, it would make more sense to use the system item flexfield segment values. To take it a step further, the enhancement request is to allow the user to control the requisition lines order. Specifically, on the Requisition Lines search criteria zone, there should be two fields to allow the user to enter a primary and secondary sort order. They could choose from the following,

Item (System item flexfield segment values, not inventory_item_id)
Need-by Date
Requisition Number
Requisition Line Number
Item Category
Ship-to location
Requestor
Suggested buyer
Suggested vendor
