We have several Windows Server 2008 R2 servers that are public Internet app servers that we want to migrate into Azure using ASR. Each of these servers has two network adapters but only one is currently being used. For the adapter in use, it is set up with a static public IP address.

I can't seem to find any scenario in the ASR documentation that covers this case. How do we move these servers into Azure and keep them on public IP addresses? All the guides and scenarios talk about creating VNets which use private IP addresses. So we tried that and during the failover test we could not connect to our servers despite creating network security groups, inbound rules, assigning a public IP, etc... I suspect that the migrated adapters weren't meshing with the VNet the way we set up.

Can anyone point me at the resource that explain how to migrate servers that have public IP address using ASR? Or perhaps a list of tasks that I need to set up to get a working network?

Public IP address of the production application cannot be retained on failover. Workloads brought up as part of failover process must be assigned an Azure Public IP resource available in the target region.
