I cannot figure out how to deploy applications to a (network isolated) environment of standalone servers.

In order to deploy automatically I need to set up workflow capability (build agent). While configuring build agent I must provide build service credentials. That would be a local account since my test machine is in a workgroup, not in a domain. Then configuration wizard is trying to use the same account to access TFS and fails.

Shall I create the same local account on TFS server for passthrough authentication or there is some way to configure automatic deployment to a workgroup machine?

Adding a domain controller into network isolated environment is not an option, I need these servers to be in a workgroup.

The short answer is that yes you would have to create a shadow account to allow for passthrough authentication to work. If you are using lab and have configured your lab service account correctly that would be handled for you. Details here
