I have built and deployed several vb applications on my company's network. I used the publishing tool with click once. I publish the applications to a share drive location. I send my new users a link to the publish.htm file. They click the link and the publish.htm file opens, they click "Install". In the bottom of IE's browser window it asks if they want to run or save. They click run and it downloads the application. From then on whenever I publish a new version it automatically updates their version whenever they run it. This works great! My organization currently runs Windows 7.

Now we are testing for Windows 10, so I tried to open the link on the Windows 10 machine using IE and get the message that it is blocked by the administrator. I am logged into the machine as an administrator. So I am guessing it may be a group policy that is blocking it.

I am not actually part of our IT department and do not have any experience with this sort of issue. I don't even know what questions to ask our IT department because I am sure that they are blocking any kind of executable files that are not on an application list as part of the build. I totally understand the need for them to do this. Our IT department manages all of our installed applications through a portal. You have to request applications and they deploy them. I have one that is deployed in this manner but I have to send them any new ones, they test it and then after a long period of time they put it on the portal. For users to get the new version they have to submit a request all over again. Because our business changes so rapidly this method is not feasible for my click once applications. I make changes and enhancements all of the time. So does anyone have experience with managing something like this? I was thinking it may have something to do with certificates but I have no idea about how they work. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
