Not really - there are some applications out there which can encrypt the whole DVD, but would I trust them? Probably not... One simple solution is to write your pictures and video to a password protected ZIP file and write that to the disk - it's pretty simple, flexible, and reasonably secure. Alternatively, buy a small safe and keep them in there...

It makes no practical sense. One who doesn't know the password won't be able to use your disk. But what if this person knows the password and wants to distribute multiple copies of your disk, despite of, say, your EULA rules where you prohibit such distribution? First thing I would think of would be: is you content really so valuable that some would want to steal it?
