Since the changes to SharePoint, is there a simple way to add a red/yellow/green stoplight indicator to a custom list?

All the solutions I can find on-line seem to pre-date the latest changes to SharePoint. (So strange that newer versions of a software are less capable than earlier versions... amazing what a profit motive will make a company like MicroSoft do...)

We can use the calculated field to color fields. However, Microsoft block the execution of custom markup in calculated fields in SharePoint Online from June 13, 2017 onwards. The June 2017 Public Update (PU) and later PUs will make blocking a configurable option for on-premises use in SharePoint Server 2016 and SharePoint Server 2013. Another method, we can use Client Side Rendering to render list view.
