On 5 June 2007, the Global Competition Law Centreorganized in cooperation with the EuropeanCommission an event aiming to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the adoption of EC competition rules with the signature of the EC Treaty in Rome. This event, which symbolically took place in the Berlaymont, was blessed to have among its speakers a number of key witnesses of the application of EC competition rules since 1957, includingcompetition Commissioner Kroes, former competition Commissioners Monti and Andriessen, Judge Azizi of theCourt of First Instance, former Judges Bellamy and Koopmans, former Advocate General Van Gerven, former Director Generals Schaub and Ehlermann, andEmeritusP rofessor Michel Waelbroeck.
